Located in the Mid-Atlantic region of the United States of America, New York state was one of the original 13 British colonies. Often overshadowed by its eponymous megacity, the state has incredible historical sites throughout the north.

Regions
Some people say that New York has two regions: New York City, and "Upstate", i.e., everything else. In fact New York is a large state with a number of distinct regions.
- The Catskills
- Thousand Islands -- more than just salad dressing
- Long Island
- Finger Lakes -- pretty lakes, breathtaking gorges and fantastic wine tours.
- The Adirondacks
- The Hudson Valley
